Kilian Jornet Wins at the 5th Golden Trail World Series in Sierre-Zinal, Switzerland

On August 10, 2024, the 5th Golden Trail World Series in Sierre, Switzerland, lived up to all expectations. Kilian Jornet broke his own Sierre-Zinal record by just 1 second, securing his 10th victory in the race, while Joyline Chepngeno claimed victory in her first-ever trail running competition. 

Kilian Jornet Breaks Record in Final Sprint 
Kilian Jornet confessed in front of cheering spectators at the finish line that this victory was the toughest he has ever faced. After a fierce competition with Philemon Kiriago, the Catalan runner narrowly broke his own record by just 1 second to claim a dramatic win. "This race was really tough, and achieving my 10th victory was extremely challenging. However, this win is not just about breaking the record; it means a lot to me that I performed even better 15 years down the line on the same course," said Jornet. He added, "The weather was extremely hot, but I was well-prepared. Despite the cramps, I was determined not to lose this victory when I saw Philemon catching up." 

The Sierre-Zinal race ended on a historic note with Kilian Jornet's 10th victory. As the Golden Trail World Series continues, we can only anticipate more intense competition in the upcoming races.
